The Pirate’s House is a restaurant in Savannah that was established in 2018, but previously has had various hats since 1734.(1) Some of the many companies this structure has housed is a herb garden, inn, bar, gas company, tea room, and it is now the wonderful restaurant it is today. The Pirate’s House serves mostly seafood along with a sophisticated version of some of your favorite home cooked meals. They are open from 11:00AM to midnight every day of the week, but you can only get a table by reservation. Up stairs, the restaurant has an extravagant gift shop where you can purchase all your touristy desires.

Some people mark this as the most haunted establishment in Savannah because of the Pirate Tunnels and old sailors that still roam the house. Underneath the house, there’s a rum cellar that used to lead to the River Street Tunnels. These tunnels were used to smuggle unconscious men to ships and force them into deck labor. This tunnel is said to be the spot of many brawls and even murders. Now, the tunnels are closed off, but before it was rumored that constant voices and moans could be heard coming out of the tunnel.

Spirits have been seen walking around the restaurant during opening hours, but the most activities happen to staff members after hours. Many workers have reported to feel as if someone was watching them, and when they turn around the “a Seaman” staring at them right before he vanishes.(2) Others have reported the sound of boots or seeing a figure in the window. But these crazy coincidences can be explained, right? Whatever you believe, I think we can both agree that the Pirate’s House is a great place to dine friends and maybe some ghosts as well.
